Drums
Originally from South Wales, UK, Rocky grew up on his parents’ record collection, subsisting on a formative diet of Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers and Toto. He took up the pots and pans at an early age, before graduating to a drum kit at the age of nine, spending his teenage years cutting his teeth on the local music scene.
At 18 he relocated to London to study jazz at the prestigious Trinity College of Music where he toured Europe and the USA with Portugese singer Guida De Palma and Jazzinhio during his first year. After two years, he left to go full-time with his band Palladium who had secured a record deal with Virgin Records and subsequently toured the UK and Europe with artists such as The Kooks, Mika, and The Feeling.
Palladium disbanded a few years later, and Rocky shifted focus to writing and producing music for other artists, working with the likes of Little Mix, JLS, James Aurthur, Kylie Minogue, Sugababes, K-Pop sensations Shinee (for whom they wrote provided a number-one single). He co-wrote and produced two tracks on Ellie Goulding’s multi-platinum selling album Halcyon, as well as working on a track with her for the Divergent movie soundtrack. During this time his second band project, I See Monstas, signed to Jimmy Iovine’s Insterscope Records (as well as Polydor Records UK) and toured extensively around the globe for the next four years.
Rocky is now back doing what he loves best – being behind the drums! – and has recently been working with Andy Taylor of Duran Duran (and producer of Rod Stewart’s Out Of Order among others).
